Your Meta Ads dashboard shows plenty of leads at a good cost. But when your team calls, people don't pick up, don't remember filling the form, or were never serious. Sound familiar? Here is how to fix it.
1. Make the form a little harder
Meta's instant forms auto-fill name and phone, so submitting takes one tap. Switch to the "Higher intent" form type, which adds a review step, and add one or two qualifying questions such as budget, location or timeline.
2. Ask questions that filter
Good qualifying questions are multiple choice and specific: "When do you plan to buy?" or "Which area are you looking in?" They reduce volume slightly but raise quality a lot.
3. Make the offer clear
Vague ads attract vague leads. Say exactly what the person gets, the starting price if possible, and who it is for. Clarity filters out people who were never a fit.
4. Fix your targeting and exclusions
- Exclude existing customers and people who already submitted a form.
- Use location targeting that matches where you actually serve.
- Once you have enough data, build lookalike audiences from real customers, not from all leads.
5. Send better signals back to Meta
Meta optimises for whatever you tell it is a success. Set up the Conversions API and mark which leads became qualified or bought. Over time, Meta finds more people like your real customers instead of more form-fillers.
6. Follow up fast
Lead quality also depends on speed. Call or WhatsApp new leads within minutes, not the next day. Automate an instant WhatsApp or SMS confirmation so people remember who you are.
7. Try a landing page
Sending traffic to a fast landing page with a form usually produces fewer but more serious leads than instant forms. Test both and compare cost per qualified lead, not cost per lead.
Track what matters
Keep a simple sheet or CRM with lead status: contacted, qualified, visited, sold. Review it weekly. That is the only way to know which ads and audiences actually make money.
